I have always been the go-to guy who knows a little about a lot, and a lot about enough. I'm the family IT guy. I'm the nerd who built computers in the early 90s instead of playing sports or making friends. I'm the sounding board to just figure it out and get it done. I grew up when guys in my family never asked for help, they always seemed to know everything. I later learned this is actually a skill in itself. A very useful and honest 'ruse' if you will.
My amazing wife and two kids are my biggest cheerleaders and have told me for years to try and do something on the side. So this is it, lets do this. I'm the oldest of 5, I joined the Army 2 weeks after high school, did a quick tour in the sand in 2003 and came home safe and in one piece. Finished my Bachelors in Information Security early as an honor grad from ITT in 2007. I've been surrounded by great people, leaders, and experiences ever since then. Truly blessed and thankful.
Coming from a large family who didn't have a whole lot, I've worked since I was 14.
- Satellite and Telephony Communications in the Army
- Went to ITT for Information Security and Computer Science
- Did a couple years working with software design for inspection systems.
- IT Support, Tier 1, 2, 3, Project Management for a while
- Did a few years working with CRM apps and SQL, more support
- Got burnt out after almost 20 years and took a leap into the construction (commercial storefront) industry, which is what I do full time now.
- I helped a few people around the neighborhood and finally decided it's time to put some structure around a phrase I've heard 50 million times.... "Hey Steve, I was doing ABC and I wish I could do XYZ, could you help me with that?"
I'm still working everything out, just getting started, taking information and advice in as fast as possible. I'll make adjustments as needed but this is how I'm going to start.
1. You can use the form on my home page, call me, text, or email me.
2. I will call you back to discuss the issue and plan a date/time to meet you.
3. A basic trip charge with-in a fair range (20-30m) is $40.
- Cash is always preferred, at least until I get other payment methods set up.
4. If I can solve your issue or help you in just a few minutes, great! No additional charge.
5. Beyond that its a case by case basis anywhere from 40$ to 100$ per hour depending on how hard my brain works and how much my ears smoke. We will talk it through and come to a fair agreement before anybody does anything.
6. If its not technical and its more on labor side, its 50$/hour. I work hard and I want to get it done and gain your respect and future business, not take you to the bank. Since this is on top of my normal full time job, I don't have time to drag things out. Again, I will do my best to assess and estimate so we can agree before doing anything.
